Quality Switch is a manufacturer of a wide variety of de-energized tap changers and electrical switches used primarily in transformers and load centers, but can be applied wherever power is controlled. The current company president, Larry Dix, came to Quality Switch in 1995 with a background as an engineer in the transformer industry. He shifted the focus of the company to engineering and design in addition to manufacturing. The majority of the switch designs are backed by independent or in-house testing. These include short circuit tests, impulse tests, applied voltage tests, mechanical endurance tests and various other tests on basic switch designs. Periodically, we retest designs and materials to verify compliance with original tests.

Quality Switch is a family owned and operated company that is transitioning to the third generation. Quality Switch has been actively involved in the transformer industry since the 1950’s when the founder, Horace Sewell, started making switches inside of his machine shop, Quality Machine, for the Standard Transformer Company in Warren, Ohio. The switches were initially designed for distribution transformer applications. The company continued to grow and in 1974, the switch business was incorporated as a standalone entity and also moved the focus to include power transformers as well.
